Davin Miles
Mechanical Engineer & Precision Technician
I am an Auburn University student with a passion for solving complex mechanical challenges and serving my community. My experience spans from leading ministry bible studies and technical teams to hands-on work in custom automotive electronics and precision machining. I thrive on bridging the gap between theory and practical application, whether I'm working with people or creating innovative solutions.
Featured Projects
Subaru Crosstrek 360° Camera System
May 2025
- Sourced and installed OEM curb-view cameras from international markets, integrating them into the vehicle's side mirrors.
- Engineered a video switching circuit using a relay bank to intercept and manage the factory reverse camera signal, enabling multiple camera inputs on the stock radio.
- Programmed an Arduino Nano to process inputs from retrofitted steering wheel paddles and a camera view button, creating an intuitive, on-demand control system.

Subaru Crosstrek Blind Spot Monitoring & Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
December 2022
- Designed and implemented CAN bus communication and sensor wiring, demonstrating advanced troubleshooting and embedded systems expertise.
- Executed mirror disassembly, radar module installation, and custom wiring harness fabrication, showcasing mechanical adaptability and precision prototyping skills.
- Documented retrofit process with clear technical communication, highlighting ability to translate complex engineering tasks into actionable steps for team and client use.

BMW E39 5-Series Parts Business
2019-2020
- Acquired a wrecked BMW and performed a complete part-out, including interior stripping and partial engine disassembly, gaining practical insights into German automotive engineering.
- Marketed and sold components through a multi-channel strategy, leveraging local enthusiast networks, online marketplaces like Craigslist, and e-commerce platforms such as eBay.
Custom Bookshelf Speakers
December 2024
- Designed and modeled two-way ported bookshelf speakers, applying acoustic principles to optimize enclosure and port dimensions for a flat frequency response using Dayton Audio components.
- Constructed solid Pine enclosures with 2.5" front-firing ports for versatile placement and lined them with sound-absorbent materials to minimize internal resonance.
- Implemented and tuned a digital 2000Hz 48dB/octave Linkwitz-Riley crossover on a 4x30W amplifier to precisely manage the frequency distribution between the drivers.

Bike Shop Redesign
November 2025
- Led a complete redesign of the bike shop layout, utilizing SolidWorks and AutoCAD to prototype and finalize designs that doubled the shop's bike service capacity.
- Collaborated with team members to gather input, ensuring the new layout met operational needs by centralizing parts storage and creating dedicated zones for spare and retail components.
- Achieved a 50% improvement in workflow efficiency by optimizing tool placement, centralizing parts storage, and adding a second pneumatic service station to reduce bottlenecks.
